On May 16-19, 2019, in the "Kyiv Rus" Park near Kyiv, the World Championship of Medieval Combat took place, organized by the International Medieval Combat Federation in cooperation with the Ukrainian Federation of Medieval Combat. Representatives from 29 countries took part in the chivalric struggle. The tournament was also attended by the Polish National Team of Medieval Combat (Rycerska Kadra Polski), which was supported by the Polish Institute in Kiev – an Official Partner of the Team during Championship.

The Polish National Team won 5 medals during the Championship: 2 gold in individual duels (Piotr Kriger in a long sword tournament and Marcin Waszkielis in a sword and shield tournament) and 3 silver medals in group fights (melee 5 vs 5, 10 vs 10 and 16 vs 16).

Members of the Polish National Team also presented medieval fights during the “Day of Europe”, which took place in Kyiv on May 18, 2019. Fighting show was presented at the main stage of the festival, co-organized by the Kyiv City Authorities and diplomatic missions of the European Union member states.
