On December 29, 1918 a sudden mass Communist demonstration took place in Warsaw. Its main cause was the internment by the Polish authorities of the Soviet delegation which came to Poland without permission. The military personnel who took part in the internment killed dozens of demonstrators. Councils of workers’ delegates in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie announced the general strike of protest. However, it did not bring the expected results.
