Kateryna Kalytko – finalist of the Conrad Award of 2017

Kateryna Kalytko (1982) is a writer and translator. She is the author of six poetry collections and two short prose books: “M.ystery” (2007) and “The Land of the Lost, or Small Scary Tales” (2017).  She is a laureate of contests “Hranoslov”, “The Greeting of Life”, “New Wine”, “Torch”, “Chime”, “Literary Accent of the Year”. Her texts were translated into English, German, Polish, and other languages. She is a laureate of the short prose festival Imbiero Vakarai 2016 (Lithuania). She is a laureate of the international prize Vilenica Crystal 2016. She translates from Balkan languages. She lives and works in Vinnytsia and Sarajevo.

The finalists have been chosen by Polish-Ukrainian jury (Katarzyna Węzowska, Bohdan Zadura, Vitalii Sych, Yevheniy Stasinevych and Hanna Uliura) among 22 writers nominated by Ukrainian and foreign cultural institutions, publishing houses and readers.

The name of the laureate will be announced on 15th of November in Kyiv. Apart from 3000 euros from Polish Institute in Kyiv, the laureate also receives  the scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland "GAUDE POLONIA” from the Partner of the Award, the National Center of Culture in Warsaw.
